On March 17, 2025, Dr. Vimala Rani Britto, Founder of Seek Foundation, conducted a two-day field visit and inspection survey in Kotagiri and Gudalur. The visit, in collaboration with NAWA (Nilgiri Adivasi Welfare Association), led to a significant agreement where land in five locations will be leased for community development. Once finalized, Seek Foundation will initiate transformative projects to empower the tribal communities through education, skill development, healthcare, eco-tourism, and livelihood enhancement.

 

By integrating these initiatives, Seek Foundation continues its mission of creating sustainable change, ensuring that tribal communities thrive, sustain their traditions, and embrace modern opportunities for a prosperous future.

Women’s Day Celebration at Manapathy Village

In celebration of Women’s Day, Seek Foundation, in collaboration with St. Britto’s College and St. Britto’s Matric Higher Secondary School, organized an inspiring visit to Manapathy Village to promote women empowerment, education, and skill development.

Mr. Thiyagarajan, HOD & Professor of Shipping & Logistics at St. Britto’s College, delivered an insightful speech on women empowerment, encouraging self-reliance and leadership. Mrs. Jayalakshmi, staff from St. Britto’s Matric Higher Secondary School, emphasized the importance of spoken English and Montessori training, highlighting how these skills can open new opportunities for graduates.

Students from St. Britto’s College (MBA Department) conducted a paper flower bouquet-making session, blending creativity with practical skills. They also spoke on the impact of women’s education, inspiring the participants to pursue learning and growth. An alumni speaker shared how a career in Shipping & Logistics at St. Britto’s College transformed his professional journey, motivating young learners.

To add an element of fun and engagement, interactive games like balloon bursting and communication challenges were conducted. Winners were awarded potted plants, symbolizing growth and sustainability.

This initiative reflects Seek Foundation’s mission to empower women and youth through education, skill-building, and community support, fostering a self-sustained and progressive future for all.

Seek Tailoring Centre Celebrates Graduation Day with a New Skill Addition

On February 28, 2025, Seek Tailoring Centre proudly celebrated its Graduation Day at R.N. Kandikai & Thandarai Village, marking a milestone in skill development and women empowerment. A total of 55 women from the 2024 batch successfully completed their tailoring training and were awarded course completion certificates, recognizing their dedication and hard work.

As part of Seek Foundation’s mission to empower women through skill-based learning, this year’s program introduced an exclusive saree draping session, a valuable skill in the growing fashion and bridal industry. The session was led by Ms. Kamali, a renowned makeup artist, designer, and professional saree drapist, who provided hands-on training on professional saree draping techniques. This new addition equips the women with a practical entrepreneurial skill, enabling them to explore opportunities in personal styling, boutique services, and event preparation.

This celebration was not just about certificates but about empowering women with skills that pave the way for financial independence. Seek Foundation remains committed to uplifting communities by providing meaningful skill development programs that create sustainable livelihoods for women.

A Joyous Pongal Celebration at Marutham Village

On Saturday, 11th January, Seek Foundation brought the spirit of Pongal to life in Marutham Village, nestled in the Uthiramerur district. The event was a beautiful blend of tradition, community bonding, and celebration, where around 60 women participated in a day filled with cultural activities and joyous moments.

The highlight of the day was the traditional Pongal preparation. Women from the community gathered to cook the festive dish in the most authentic way, symbolizing gratitude for a bountiful harvest. The sight of bubbling pots and the aroma of freshly prepared Pongal not only filled the air but also hearts with warmth and a sense of togetherness.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, a variety of competitions were organized to engage and entertain the participants. The tug-of-war brought out their strength and teamwork, while rangoli designs showcased artistic flair and cultural pride. The pot painting activity turned into a canvas for creativity, and the lively Uri Adithal game brought endless laughter and excitement. Winners of these competitions were awarded prizes, making the day even more memorable for the participants.

The Pongal celebration was more than just a festival; it was a meaningful event that reinforced community spirit, preserved cultural traditions, and provided an opportunity for women to connect and express themselves. Reach and Relief: Seek Foundation’s December 2024 Distribution Drive

On 20 December 2024, Dr. Vimala Rani Britto, Founder of Seek Foundation, led a large-scale distribution drive to bring essential supplies to underserved communities. Upholding the Foundation’s commitment to women empowerment, child development, and tribal livelihood enhancement, the initiative served 3,500 beneficiaries with vital items such as rice, biscuits, bedsheets, dhotis, sarees, hand towels, children’s clothing, and sweets.

Dr. Vimala Britto personally visited the villages of Sundapatti, Vellarikombai, Koovakarai, Chalivayal, Kolipalam, Mankara, Kottadi, and Karuthadu, while Seek Foundation teams, in collaboration with St Britto’s Academy students, reached out to additional locations, including:

Charitable Drive by St Britto’s and Seek Foundation at Anaikum Karangal, Puzhuthivakkam

Charity begins at home but should not end there.” This timeless proverb rings especially true during the month of December, traditionally a season of gratitude and giving. In this spirit of hope and compassion, Seek Foundation, serving as the main organizer, teamed up with St Britto’s Matriculation School to visit Anaikum Karangal in Puzhuthivakkam, where 40 abandoned children currently reside.

On this meaningful occasion, Std. XII students from St Britto’s Matriculation School joined forces with Seek Foundation to distribute essential materials collected through charitable drives. The event highlighted the power of giving—not just to provide necessities, but to spread love, foster community, and uplift those in need. By reaching out beyond our homes, we ensure that while charity may indeed begin at home, it extends far and wide, touching lives and inspiring others to do the same.

Promoting Health and Awareness at CSI Primary School, Alandur

On November 20th, 2024, SEEK Foundation, in collaboration with St. Britto’s Academy, conducted an impactful awareness program at CSI Primary School, Alandur, Chennai. Focusing on food, health, hygiene, and digital detox, the program saw enthusiastic participation from 45 students out of 70 enrolled.

Guided by Mrs. G. Jayanthi Arulmani, students from St. Britto’s Academy delivered an engaging PowerPoint presentation covering balanced nutrition, personal hygiene, and strategies for managing digital consumption. Hygiene kits, including essential items like a toothbrush, toothpaste, nail cutter, and soap, were distributed to all participants, adding practical value to the session.

A special session on child abuse awareness by Mrs. Saraswathi from the Mount Police Station provided critical safety insights, enhancing the program’s impact. Students displayed curiosity and enthusiasm throughout, expressing a desire to contribute to society through similar initiatives.

This program reflects SEEK Foundation’s commitment to fostering health awareness and community-oriented values among young learners. A heartfelt thanks to the management for supporting this meaningful initiative.

Children’s Day Celebrations at St. Joseph Primary School, Velachery

In celebration of Children’s Day, SEEK Foundation organized a series of exciting competitions at St. Joseph Primary School, Velachery. Events such as coloring, drawing, handwriting, and speech competitions saw enthusiastic participation from 168 students.

The Pre-KG children added a vibrant touch with their eager participation in the coloring competition, showcasing their creativity. To honor their efforts, all students were awarded prizes, making the day memorable for everyone.

The Headmaster, Mr. Robert, presented prizes to the winners, encouraging and motivating the students to continue honing their skills. The event was a joyous celebration of talent, creativity, and the spirit of Children’s Day.

Awareness Program on Expanding Resources for Rural Women in Kandigai & Perunagar

On Saturday, 19th October, Seek Foundation, in collaboration with St. Britto’s College Seek Initiative, organized an Awareness Program aimed at empowering rural women in the villages of Kandigai and Perunagar in Uthiramerur district. This initiative was part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to support women’s entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

The program also served as an opportunity for St. Britto’s College (SBC) students to engage with the community, fostering a sense of social responsibility. 15 students and 2 faculty members volunteered for the event, conducting various warm-up activities to create a friendly and engaging atmosphere for the women participants.

Ms. Manasha and Ms. Sneha, from the BBA & MBA departments, led a session on how to start a YouTube channel and use it as a platform to promote small businesses, encouraging women to become entrepreneurs. Mr. Thiyagarajan, a senior faculty member of shipping, emphasized the importance of opening bank accounts and explained the benefits of joining women’s groups (Magalir Kuzhu) for self-employment and skill development. Mrs. Persis Jemima, from the management studies department, shared insights on revenue generation and the potential of mushroom cultivation as a sustainable business option.

To add a touch of fun and break the monotony, interactive games such as lucky draw, lucky corner, musical chairs, and tower building were conducted, with prizes given to the winners. About 45 women actively participated, voicing their queries and leaving the event inspired to explore small business ventures.

This program highlighted Seek Foundation’s mission of empowering rural communities by expanding resources and fostering entrepreneurship among women, furthering its objective of economic upliftment and self-reliance.

Educational Visit to Salavakkam Village: A Journey Towards Sustainability and Community Building

On 9th October, Seek Foundation, in association with local schools, organized an educational visit to Salavakkam Village. The initiative aimed to provide practical exposure to environmental sustainability and agricultural practices for 62 students, emphasizing the importance of community development, teamwork, and respect for nature.

The visit featured two key activities that gave students hands-on experience in both environmental conservation and agriculture.

Sapling Plantation
The students participated in a sapling plantation drive, planting 100 saplings around the village. This activity was not just about greening the area but also about educating students on the critical role trees play in preserving ecosystems and promoting community well-being. The sapling plantation experience fostered a sense of environmental responsibility, teaching students that every individual has a role in nurturing and protecting nature.

Paddy Planting Activity
In a unique and immersive experience, the students took part in paddy planting in the village’s fields. This hands-on agricultural activity provided them with a deeper understanding of the effort and dedication required in farming. They learned the basic techniques of paddy cultivation and developed a newfound respect for the farmers who work hard to sustain the country’s food supply.

Lessons and Values Gained
Environmental Responsibility: The sapling plantation activity instilled a strong sense of responsibility towards the environment, encouraging students to take proactive steps in creating sustainable ecosystems.
