In celebration of Children’s Day, SEEK Foundation organized a series of exciting competitions at St. Joseph Primary School, Velachery. Events such as coloring, drawing, handwriting, and speech competitions saw enthusiastic participation from 168 students.

The Pre-KG children added a vibrant touch with their eager participation in the coloring competition, showcasing their creativity. To honor their efforts, all students were awarded prizes, making the day memorable for everyone.

The Headmaster, Mr. Robert, presented prizes to the winners, encouraging and motivating the students to continue honing their skills. The event was a joyous celebration of talent, creativity, and the spirit of Children’s Day.

On Saturday, 19th October, Seek Foundation, in collaboration with St. Britto’s College Seek Initiative, organized an Awareness Program aimed at empowering rural women in the villages of Kandigai and Perunagar in Uthiramerur district. This initiative was part of the foundation’s ongoing efforts to support women’s entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

The program also served as an opportunity for St. Britto’s College (SBC) students to engage with the community, fostering a sense of social responsibility. 15 students and 2 faculty members volunteered for the event, conducting various warm-up activities to create a friendly and engaging atmosphere for the women participants.

Ms. Manasha and Ms. Sneha, from the BBA & MBA departments, led a session on how to start a YouTube channel and use it as a platform to promote small businesses, encouraging women to become entrepreneurs. Mr. Thiyagarajan, a senior faculty member of shipping, emphasized the importance of opening bank accounts and explained the benefits of joining women’s groups (Magalir Kuzhu) for self-employment and skill development. Mrs. Persis Jemima, from the management studies department, shared insights on revenue generation and the potential of mushroom cultivation as a sustainable business option.

To add a touch of fun and break the monotony, interactive games such as lucky draw, lucky corner, musical chairs, and tower building were conducted, with prizes given to the winners. About 45 women actively participated, voicing their queries and leaving the event inspired to explore small business ventures.

This program highlighted Seek Foundation’s mission of empowering rural communities by expanding resources and fostering entrepreneurship among women, furthering its objective of economic upliftment and self-reliance.

On 9th October, Seek Foundation, in association with local schools, organized an educational visit to Salavakkam Village. The initiative aimed to provide practical exposure to environmental sustainability and agricultural practices for 62 students, emphasizing the importance of community development, teamwork, and respect for nature.

The visit featured two key activities that gave students hands-on experience in both environmental conservation and agriculture.

Sapling Plantation
The students participated in a sapling plantation drive, planting 100 saplings around the village. This activity was not just about greening the area but also about educating students on the critical role trees play in preserving ecosystems and promoting community well-being. The sapling plantation experience fostered a sense of environmental responsibility, teaching students that every individual has a role in nurturing and protecting nature.

Paddy Planting Activity
In a unique and immersive experience, the students took part in paddy planting in the village’s fields. This hands-on agricultural activity provided them with a deeper understanding of the effort and dedication required in farming. They learned the basic techniques of paddy cultivation and developed a newfound respect for the farmers who work hard to sustain the country’s food supply.

Lessons and Values Gained
Environmental Responsibility: The sapling plantation activity instilled a strong sense of responsibility towards the environment, encouraging students to take proactive steps in creating sustainable ecosystems.

Teamwork and Collaboration: Working in groups for the plantation activities, students learned the importance of collaboration and teamwork in achieving a common goal, fostering a spirit of unity.

Respect for Farmers: The experience in the paddy fields gave students a firsthand look at the labor-intensive nature of farming, deepening their appreciation for the hard work of agricultural workers and their critical role in society.

Patience and Sustainability: The students learned that growth—whether in plants or life—takes time and effort. They understood that patience and care are essential to both farming and sustainable practices.

This educational visit, organized by Seek Foundation, proved to be a transformative experience for the students, equipping them with valuable life lessons about sustainability, community, and environmental stewardship. It was a day filled with learning, teamwork, and respect for nature, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved.

On Saturday, 21st September 2024, Seek Foundation conducted a comprehensive tailoring exam across the villages of Manapathy, Vayalur, and Marutham as part of its mission to empower women through skill development. A total of 45 women, 15 from each village, participated in the evaluation, which tested their progress after months of dedicated training.

The examination featured both a viva session and an assessment of the participants’ stitching patterns. Each participant presented an album of miniature samples, showcasing their ability to stitch essential garments such as blouses, skirts, churidars, frocks, and tops. This practical approach ensured a thorough evaluation of their craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Ms. Kamali, a renowned fashion designer, served as the external examiner, providing valuable feedback and insights to the trainees. Her expertise and detailed evaluation ensured that these women are now equipped with the skills necessary for professional tailoring tasks.

This initiative aligns with the vision and objectives of Seek Foundation, an NGO dedicated to fostering economic self-reliance and women empowerment. By offering skill-based training programs, Seek Foundation aims to create sustainable livelihoods and empower women to take charge of their future. This tailoring program is a testament to their commitment to uplifting communities, one stitch at a time.

On August 9th, 2024, SEEK Foundation, under the leadership of Dr. Vimala Rani Britto, demonstrated its unwavering commitment to empowering communities by donating ₹5,00,000 to support the tribal housing initiative in Kotagiri. This contribution will help 21 tribal families cover their share of the costs in the government’s housing construction plan. The initiative was formalized in the presence of Tamil Nadu’s Health Minister Mr. Ma. Subramaniyan, Tourism Minister K. Ramachandran, District Collector Ms. Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru I.A.S., and Mr. Alwas, Secretary of NAWA.

On August 9th, 2024, International Day of the World’s Indigenous People, SEEK Foundation, led by Dr. Vimala Rani Britto, made a significant contribution to the tribal people of Kotagiri by donating a mobile medical ambulance service. This essential life-saving aid, equipped with doctors and technicians, will regularly visit 40 villages, ensuring accessible healthcare. The ambulance was handed over by Dr Vimalarani Britto to Tamil Nadu’s Health Minister Mr. Ma. Subramaniyan, in the presence of Tourism Minister K. Ramachandran, alongside Nilgiris District Collector Ms. Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru I.A.S., and Mr. Alwas, Secretary of NAWA. (Nilgiri Adivasi Welfare Association )

SEEK Foundation proudly distributed sewing machines to 50 women from Visur, Vayalur, and Marutham villages for the 10^th batch. The event was graced by Mrs. Mercy Senthilkumar of Mercy Foundation and the State President of the Press & Media People Association, who praised Dr. Mrs. Vimala Britto for her relentless efforts in empowering economically disadvantaged women, thereby making them financially independent.

This initiative is part of SEEK Foundation’s broader mission, having contributed approximately ₹2 crores this year to various initiatives focused on women’s growth and child education. The distribution of sewing machines is a testament to the Foundation’s commitment to women’s empowerment, ensuring they have the tools to increase their family income and contribute to building a stronger society.

On July 31, 2024, Seek Foundation, in association with St. Britto’s Academy, Velachery, successfully conducted the BYC 2024 event at Chennai Middle School, Madipakkam. Embracing the belief that healthy competition is more than winning, this event featured a range of activities for students from LKG to VIII standard, including coloring, drawing, speech, singing, running races, and bouncing the ball.

Teachers and volunteers efficiently managed the events, emphasizing the foundation’s primary goal of fostering social skills and integrity among students. Participation in these events helps build self-confidence, teamwork, skill development, and time management. Moreover, the BYC 2024 event promotes student empowerment, encouraging them to set goals and strive for progress.

Seek Foundation is dedicated to creating opportunities for students to develop holistically, ensuring they learn essential life skills while enjoying healthy competition. We are grateful for the support of St. Britto’s Academy and the enthusiastic participation of all students.

On July 30, 2024, the Seek Foundation, in collaboration with St. Britto’s Academy, Velachery, successfully organized a vibrant series of BYC competitions at Chennai Primary and Government Higher Secondary Schools in Perungudi. The event was met with enthusiastic participation from 19 students, including scouts and guides, and 11 teachers from St. Britto’s Academy.

The competitions included a drawing competition for classes KG, 1, and 2; a song competition for classes 3, 4, and 5; and a Tamil speech competition for classes 6, 7, and 8. Additionally, sports competitions such as passing the ball, hopping, and zigzag races were conducted for all classes from KG to class 8. The total number of students participating was impressive, with 432 from Chennai Primary School and 400 from Government Higher Secondary School.

Students energetically engaged in all the events, showcasing their talents and exceeding expectations. The outcomes of the event were manifold, promoting physical fitness and well-being, encouraging teamwork and cooperation, and developing leadership and organizational skills among students.
