In an exemplary display of civic engagement and educational advocacy, the Nilgiri Adivasi Welfare Association (NAWA) in collaboration with Seek Foundation, orchestrated a monumental rally on March 22, 2024. The rally, held in the picturesque town of Kotagiri, was not just a procession but a powerful message on the importance of women’s education, the imperative of 100% voter turnout, and the urgent need to curb educational dropouts.

The Drive for 100% Voter Awareness

Heeding the Election Commission’s call for heightened voter awareness, the rally aimed to ensure that every vote is cast knowingly and conscientiously in the upcoming parliamentary elections. It’s a step towards fortifying democracy and ensuring that every voice, every vote, is counted.

A March Through Kotagiri

Starting from the historic Kotagiri Kamaraj Square, the rally wove through the heart of the city, returning to the square, becoming a moving forum for public education. About 200 students, alongside notable figures such as Dr. Vimala Rani, founder of Seek Foundation, and Mr. Alwas, Secretary of NAWA, infused the streets with the spirit of knowledge and empowerment. The rally was graced by the participation of influential personalities and educators, including Dr. Thamas Ponraj, Director of VKAN-V Solutions, Ms Motcha Alanger Mary FMM Principal St.Anton’s School and Ms. Poovizhi, Principal of Victoria Armstrong Primary School.

A United Front for Education and Against Drug Abuse

The rally wasn’t just about voting. It tackled pressing issues like school dropouts and drug abuse. By engaging directly with the community and school children, the message was clear: education is a right and a foundation for a better future, and staying clear of drugs is imperative for healthy, empowered communities.

As we reflect on the success of the rally in Kotagiri, it’s clear that such initiatives are pivotal in creating lasting change. The partnership between Nilgiri Adivasi Welfare Association and Seek Foundation sets a benchmark for how community organizations can collaborate to address critical societal issues.

The rally is just the beginning. With continued support and awareness, we can aspire to a future where every child has access to education, every citizen exercises their right to vote, and every community thrives free from the clutches of poverty and addiction. Let us all be part of this noble journey towards empowerment and societal enrichment.
